Local Data Policy
Introduction
Mangaplay Studio comes in two forms: a website at mangaplay.studio, and a Chrome extension for use with files in Google Drive. Both run in your browser.
Each one saves a small amount of data on your device. The website uses your browser's localStorage. The Chrome extension uses chrome.storage. Nothing on this page is ever sent to our servers. We have no servers.

Website: Browser localStorage
The website saves a small amount of data in your browser's localStorage so the app remembers your work and your settings between visits. All of it stays on your device.
What is saved
- Your manga projects. The script text, drawings, and per-project settings for each save slot you create.
- Your settings. Theme, view mode, language, export preferences, and the default manga and drawing-tool settings.
- Recent files list. The names and timestamps of files you have opened. The file contents are not part of this list.
- Onboarding flag. Whether you have already seen the first-run walkthrough.
Older versions of the app used a few extra keys (with the mangaplay_studio_ prefix) for the same kinds of settings and saves. New versions read these once for backwards compatibility. They contain the same kinds of data listed above.
All data stays on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers. We have no servers.
To clear everything, pick Settings → Reset inside the app, or clear your browser's site data for this site.
Chrome Extension: chrome.storage
The Mangaplay Studio for Google extension saves a small amount of data on your device, using Chrome's built-in storage. Nothing is sent off your device by the extension.
Session storage (cleared when the browser closes)
- Your Google sign-in. A short-lived sign-in token, plus your name and profile picture, so the extension can call the Google Drive API on your behalf and show you which account you are using.
- Side-panel binding. The Chrome tab ID that the side panel is currently working in, so the panel and your file stay paired while you work.
- In-progress operation status. A progress snapshot for long-running tasks (for example, percent done). Does not include any of your file's content.
- Recent diagnostic log. A short rolling list of error and event messages used to help fix bugs. Does not include your file's content.
Local storage (kept until you uninstall or pick Settings → Reset)
- Your settings. Theme, view mode, language, export preferences, and the default manga and drawing-tool settings (the same shape as on the website).
- Onboarding flag. Whether you have already seen the in-panel walkthrough.
- Notes about files you have opened. For each file you open with the extension, a small record of how you had the panel set up (which view, which page, your drawings on top of the file). The file's actual content is not saved here — it is fetched fresh from Google each time.
The content of your file is never saved by the extension. Every time you open a file, the extension reads it fresh from Google. The drawings you make on top of the file are your own annotations and are kept with your settings.
